Press Release

Emeline will host local artist and poet Jenan McClain in residence for a painting and poetry workshop on May 21st. Jenan will teach her compelling artistic practices in Emeline’s expansive outdoor courtyard, an ideal setting for social gatherings in an authentic Charleston fashion. Refreshments will also be provided by Frannie & The Fox, Emeline’s wood-fired eatery with Italian sensibilities. Emeline’s Artist in Residency program was designed to spark creativity and curiosity while exhibiting authentic local artists.

“Our goal with the Artist in Residence program is to feature a curation of artists who are aligned with our muse, Emeline, an intrepid adventurer who after years of worldly travels decided to embrace the historic city of Charleston as her forever home,” said Whitney Dang, Emeline’s director of sales and marketing. “Jenan’s intuitive painting practices and beautiful art pieces will delight visitors and guests looking for a truly thoughtful and creative experience that Emeline would adore.”

On Sunday, May 21st, from 1-3 pm, Jenan will host a Paint, Poem, and Sip Workshop in Emeline’s outdoor courtyard. This workshop is tailored to artists of all skill levels and focuses more on the process than the final art product. Participants will immerse and express themselves through the canvas while Jenan guides their experience. Tickets are $75 per person and include paint supplies and your choice of a glass of wine. A full-time artist and poet, Jenan attended the Fine Arts Center in Greenville and Clemson University. Under the mentorship of talent Jim Campbell, she first experienced the beautiful beginnings of meditative creation. Much of her textured, expressionistic work centers around the maternal in nature: marshes as mothers of the sea, flowers as the divine feminine, and figurative abstractions as whimsical pillars of strength and wisdom. Jenan lives in Mount Pleasant with her daughter, Isla, and mini doodle, Goji.
