Local Folk Duo to Compete at MerleFest
Local folk duo The Letter Show, featuring Becca Bessinger (vocals, guitar) and George Stevens (vocals, guitar, mandolin), will perform at MerleFest in Wilkesboro, North Carolina on Saturday, April 27th. The duo was one of eight acts accepted into the festival’s band competition. Each band will play a 15-minute set, vying for the opportunity to play a full set on one of the main stages on Sunday. “It’s surreal to play MerleFest,” said Stevens. “It’s one of those festivals like Newport Folk that anyone who picks up an acoustic instrument dreams about playing. We’re excited to go soak it all in, and put on a great show.”
The 2023 MerleFest, considered one of the premier music festivals in the country, will play host to national acts including the Avett Brothers, Nickel Creek, Sam Bush, and hundreds of other musicians.
