South Carolina ETV’s wildlife-focused digital series, What’s Wild, returns for Season 2 on April 27th. The weekly, eight-episode series encourages viewers to explore the beauty of nature, showcasing unique creatures of the Palmetto State, from gopher tortoises to bobcats.

This season, What’s Wild continues to take audiences on a journey from the mountains to the sea, uncovering the incredible wildlife and dedicated people who work tirelessly to protect them. From an abandoned railroad tunnel in the Upstate, to the maritime forests of the coast, viewers will discover the unique ecosystems that make South Carolina home to some of the most incredible creatures on earth.

Below is a glimpse into What’s Wild Season 2:

  • Learn about the misunderstood turkey vulture, their necessary role in ecosystems, and the man-made threats they face, like car strikes. Then, travel to the Center for Birds of Prey where its’ bird hotline takes in injured birds for care across the Palmetto State via a network of trained volunteers.
  • Discover the vital role of the Palmetto State’s 14 bat species in pest control, pollination and seed dispersal. Plus a look at wildlife management’s efforts to restore and research the population, including the devastating fungus they face.
  • Uncover the fascinating inhabitants of the maritime forest, including the elusive “big cat” – the bobcat. Bobcats are key predators of deer, but pesticides have threatened their population. Follow conservationists and government officials on Kiawah Island working to monitor and restore their numbers.

What’s Wild is produced and edited by an Emmy-nominated producer Charles Dymock. In addition to What’s Wild, Dymock also produces the digital series, From the Sky, where he showcases the beauty of nature and other marvels of the Palmetto State with aerial drone footage.

New episodes of What’s Wild will be published on SCETV’s YouTube channel starting Thursday, April 27 at 11 a.m. In addition to the network’s YouTube channel, viewers will also be able to watch What’s Wild on the SCETV app and on the SCETV website.
