Comedy Show “Jokes at Blokes” Announces New Host

Mount Pleasant Community Arts Center (MPCAC) and Two Blokes Brewing on Monday announced that Erin Blok will be returning to Jokes at Blokes as the host of their collaborative comedy series for shows going forward in 2023. The quarterly event showcases both local and national names in the world of stand up comedy.

Blok, who placed in the “Top 101” at the World Series of Comedy 2022, will share the limelight with an all-female cast this Friday, May 12th: Charleston Comedy Bus lead comic Shawna Jarrett; internationally touring stand up comedian and interdisciplinary performer Tamale Sepp; and Scarlett Alexandra, whose comedy style has been described as “Feminist Monty Python.”

MPCAC produces the comedy program as part of its initiative to provide a stage for local artists and fill a niche for residents in Mount Pleasant and surrounding areas.

“This is a very important mission,” says Blok. “When the world shut down for COVID, everyone realized how important the arts are—how we needed laughter and creativity. For me, coming out of such a tough time, it’s all about spreading some joy—to have a way to express yourself and, for those who want to enjoy that artistic expression, a place to enjoy it.”
