SeamonWhiteside Celebrates the Completion of Hanahan’s Newest Recreational Complex
SeamonWhiteside (SW+), a full-service site firm with offices throughout the Carolinas, is excited to announce its completion of work on the City of Hanahan’s new recreational complex, The Hawk’s Nest. To celebrate the grand opening and the City of Hanahan’s 50th birthday, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and party in the park was held on Friday, May 12th, 2023. The opening revealed the complex’s 6 tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, a multipurpose field, an artificial turf field, a playground, fishing ponds, a basketball court, two baseball/softball fields, and a pavilion.
Located at 1177 Williams Lane, this multi-use recreation complex will add tremendous value to the City of Hanahan residents and the Berkeley County School District as the city has experienced exponential growth in the last few years.
“The completion of The Hawk’s Nest marks a huge milestone for the residents of Hanahan and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have helped bring this 53-acre park to life,” says Jennifer Palmer, Director of SeamonWhiteside Summerville office. “This recreational complex merges modern design with the history of the original site and will offer visitors a convenient and accessible resource to unwind and be outdoors.”
SW+ was the lead consultant on this $12M+ project and has worked closely with the City of Hanahan since 2016. The firm provided Programming/Master Planning, Budgeting Assistance, CDs, Permitting, Bid Administration and Procurement, and Construction Administration. SeamonWhiteside worked closely on this project with Southeastern Surveying, ECS, Critical Systems Engineering, McSweeney Engineers, and architect Chris Karpus.
