Local Nonprofit to Host “Justice Weekend” Social Justice Conference
The Black Liberation Fund today announced Justice Weekend, a new event that will take place on June 2nd and 3rd. The event will run from 9 am to 5 pm on both days and will be held at 7000 Rivers Ave. in North Charleston.
Justice Weekend aims to bring together experts, thought leaders, and activists from the city to engage in meaningful discussions, collaboration workshops, and empowering presentations. Organizers say their objective is to drive positive change and foster a more equitable and inclusive society.
Throughout the two-day event, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in various sessions that explore crucial topics such as:
- How racism and oppression affect our mental health and well-being
- How to access affordable and culturally competent medical resources
- how to support ourselves and each other in our healing journeys
- Using creative tools like art, music, poetry, and storytelling to foster expression and healing
- Disability-accessible justice
- A film screening of “40 Years a Prisoner” with Mike Africa, Jr.
- And more
