Chaquis Maliq Releases New Live Album
Local musician Chaquis Maliq recently released a new live album, EccentroSoul 1 Woman Band Live, which was recorded at The Gaillard Center in 2020.
Maliq says the album is a stripped down and intimate performance without an audience, because in 2020, as we all know, was the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I wasn’t sure about putting out this project because I didn’t think (at first listen) I sounded my best,” Maliq said. “I was unaware of the ailments that occurred during the time of the recording, but while mixing at home, I thought about how Ms. Lauryn Hill’s unplugged album made me and others feel; although (reportedly) Ms. Hill performed with a ripped throat.”
