Tutelage Hires Mark Bounds, Army Veteran and Esteemed Educator
Tutelage School Solutions is proud to announce the hiring of Mark Bounds as Regional Director. Bounds (right) will work directly in supporting three schools within the Tutelage family of schools: Greenwood Charter Academy, Cherokee Charter Academy, and Libertas Academy – Boiling Springs.
Bounds brings more than two decades of experience working in various roles within South Carolina public schools. Starting as an Education Associate serving struggling schools, then as Executive Director for Communities in Schools of South Carolina, and later transitioning to Director of School Leadership and Deputy Superintendent for School Effectiveness at the SC Department of Education. Most recently, Bounds served as the Head of School at East Point Academy (EPA) in West Columbia. EPA is widely regarded as one of the top public charter schools in the state. Prior to his career in education, Bounds served for twenty years in the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Bounds last served as the Deputy Chief of Staff at Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC.

Bounds’s superior leadership skills resulted in many accolades for East Point Academy including: Best Charter School (The State Newspaper 2019-22), Best Charter (Free Times 2019), and an “A” rating and in the top 4% of all Middle and Elementary Schools (Niche.com 2019-20). Also, during this time, Bounds was awarded the Order of the Palmetto, the highest civilian honor awarded by the SC Governor.
