Bahamas Ambassador to the USA Heads Up Team to Share Historical Connection to Charleston in Celebration of Caribbean American Heritage Month

In celebration of Caribbean American Heritage Month, Charleston Carifest explores the Bahamas road to independence and the connection to Charleston. 

The Carifest Symposium and Opening Reception is Thursday, June 29th, from 6 pm to 9 pm, at The College of Charleston, Beatty Center, 5 Liberty Street.    

Ambassador Wendall K. Jones is a leader in media in The Bahamas. He is the most successful journalist of his generation in the country. For the past three decades he has pioneered the creation of enterprises which have changed the face of journalism and communications throughout the society. Mr. Jones began his career as a Journalist with The Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas in 1972. His training took him to the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados WTV] Channel 4 Miami, Florida; and The Voice of America, Washington, D.C. Mr. Jones has spoken in a number of Seminars on Media in the Caribbean and the Americas, including seminars on Globalization and The Media Looking To The 21st Century, sponsored by the World Media Association in Washington, D.C. and on Communication, Globalization and Democracy, held at Ciespal in Quito, Ecuador.

Mr. Jones is the Proprietor and Chief Executive Officer of Jones Communications International Limited, comprised of Radio Love 97 FM; The Bahama Journal, a daily newspaper; Jones Publications, publishers of several Bahamian books and JCN Television.

Other activities include the June 30th All White Fete at Founder’s Hall, and the Carnival Parade on Saturday July 1st in Brittle Bank Park.
