Press Release

On Monday, June 5th, 2023, Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman joined General Glenn Walters, the President of the Citadel, South Carolina Lieutenant  Governor Pamela Evette and Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg in Charleston to celebrate  the opening of a new Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC). In the United States, there  are nearly two million veteran-owned small businesses, employing over five million people and generating over $1.3 trillion in annual revenue.

Administrator Guzman kicked off the tour of the new Veterans Business Outreach Center, which will provide tools and resources to veteran entrepreneurs and their families by  discussing ways that the Biden-Harris Administration is building upon its support for veteran  entrepreneurship, expanding opportunities for capital access and existing programs for  veteran entrepreneurship. This VBOC is one of six new centers, which now service all 50  states, due to additional funding in $3.5 million in grant awards to support outreach organizations focused on veteran small businesses.

President Biden believes we have a sacred obligation to our nation’s veterans and their families. Since taking office, President Biden has signed into law multiple bipartisan bills that address some of the most important issues facing veterans today. In April, the U.S. Small Business Administration announced $3.5 million in grant awards to support outreach  organizations focused on veteran small businesses, strengthening training and counseling  services for aspiring and existing veteran and military spouse small business owners.
