Charleston Mayoral Candidate Clay Middleton Vows to Order Police to Stand Down to “Protect Women and Doctors”
Clay Middleton, a candidate for Mayor of Charleston, today vowed to protect women seeking healthcare services and doctors who perform them, if he is elected.
“I want you to hear this directly from me,” Middleton said. “As Mayor of Charleston I will order the Charleston Police Department to stand down on arresting women and doctors.”
A year after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade, South Carolina statehouse politicians passed one of the most restrictive abortion bans in the country.
