HALOS Raises Over $63,000 for Summer Camp Scholarships
Thanks to the support of our community, HALOS has raised over $63,000 to fund summer camp opportunities for children in kinship care. Each year, HALOS offers summer camp scholarships for children being raised by grandparents and other relatives to keep them out of foster care.
Kinship families often face financial difficulties with the increased strain on their budget of the added child or children. This year, HALOS saw an increase in applications for summer camp scholarships compared to previous years and currently has a waitlist. Over 190 children whose families are currently enrolled in HALOS’ Kinship Program have applied and been awarded scholarships.
“I am overwhelmed and filled with gratitude for the outpouring of support from our 70+ community partners,” said Cassidy Gerald, HALOS’ Events and Engagement Coordinator. “These faith-based organizations, businesses, and civic groups continue to step up to meet the needs of kinship care children.”
