The historic Dock Street Theatre will next month host The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical.

Millions of fans have followed Percy Jackson’s adventures in Rick Riordan’s award-winning YA books, in the hit 2010 film, and with this 2014 high-voltage Off-Broadway musical. The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical follows the coming-of-age odyssey of Percy, a typical 12-year-old who discovers that he’s actually the son of Poseidon, God of The Seas, with the magical powers of a demigod to match. Soon Percy is off on a quest to find Zeus’ missing lightning bolt in desperation to stop an impending war between the gods. Can he clear his name after being suspected of stealing Zeus’ lightning bolt and prevent a war from breaking out on Mount Olympus? Join these dynamic, action-packed humans, gods, and half-blood demigods for a family-friendly show that will leave you cheering Percy on through every obstacle and growing pain. Winner of Off-Broadway honors such as Outstanding Musical and Best Family Show, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical has been electrifying audiences around the world since its debut.

The high-energy cast of Charleston Stage Resident Actors features Cody Elsensohn (Pablo Del Valle – Native Gardens, Bob Cratchit – A Christmas Carol) as Percy Jackson, Chloë Wendler as Annabeth, Brendan Considine as Grover/Mr. D, and Eddie Weaver, Brietta Goodman (Asaka – Once On This Island, Charlotte – Charlotte’s Web), Gracie Brantley, Jhonika Wright (Ti Moune/Erzulie – Once On This Island, Mrs. Cratchit – A Christmas Carol), Eliza Knode (Inga Arvad Fejos – JFK and Inga Binga, Morticia Addams – The Addams Family: A New Musical), Dominick Ventrella, and Kyra McKillip rounding out the cast in various ensemble roles. The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical features the direction and choreography of Director of Education and Engagement Rylee Coppel, music direction by Resident Music Director Sam Henderson, costume designs by Assistant Costume Shop Manager and Cutter and Draper David Jordan Baxter, set designs by Shop Technician and Scenic Painter Claire Brenia, properties by Props Artisan and Carpenter Hailee Selby, lighting design by Resident Lighting Designer Caleb S.
