BCLS Co-Hosting “Gardening in the South: Color for Summer” at Goose Creek Library
Berkeley County Library System (BCLS) will co-host Gardening in the South: Color for Summer with Christopher Burtt, Clemson University Cooperative Extension Area Horticulture Agent, for Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester Counties, on Thursday, July 13th, 2023, from 1 pm to 2 pm.
The event will take place at Goose Creek Library, located at 325 Old Moncks Corner Rd., Goose Creek. You can register at berkeleylibrarysc.libcal.com/event/10864212. Registration opens June 29.
Burtt, who is a Clemson University Cooperative Extension Area Horticulture Agent, will discuss Lowcountry gardening spring bloomers and colorful plants for the summer heat to brighten a gardener’s landscape! He has worked with Clemson University for over five years with previous experience in nursery and landscaping. He coordinates the Tri-County Master Gardener program and assists homeowners and nurseries with technical support.
“Summer is often the time of year when the garden may look the dullest. Many of our favorite spring bloomers have finished and the stress of the heat is upon us,” Burtt said. “But there are plenty of summer blooms to incorporate into the landscape to provide that much needed touch of color in the garden.”
