CJCC Seeking Community Representatives to Participate in Criminal Justice Coordinating Council

Are you interested in making a difference in your local community by helping to improve the criminal justice system? The Charleston County Criminal Justice System (CJCC) is currently looking for four dedicated community representatives to serve during the 2023-2025 term. The CJCC is a collaborative council composed of leaders in the criminal justice system and community representatives who work together to analyze trends, identify common issues, and implement effective strategies to tackle them.
The current openings for Charleston County residents include:
∙ Local nonprofit community
∙ Local healthcare community
∙ Local business community
∙ Local defense bar
Community representatives gather and share community input and voice the diverse needs and concerns of Charleston County residents within the CJCC’s decision-making process.
“I have enjoyed sitting at the table with those who have the ability to make the changes I believe in. Don’t be afraid to step out and let your voice be heard,” stated Nadine Carmon, currently serving as a community representative.
If interested in applying, please visit the CJCC website (cjcc.charlestoncounty.org) to find instructions, frequently asked questions, and the online application. All application documents are posted in both English and Spanish. The organization encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds and various locations within Charleston County to apply. The deadline for submitting completed applications is August 11th.
