Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon to Host Celebration for “Charleston History in Color” Release
The Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon will host a special celebration for the collaborative release from local author Mark Jones and Lewis Hayes Jr.: Charleston History in Color.
This collection of never-before-seen professionally colorized photographs spans decades of Charleston’s history, taking the viewer back in time to see the Holy City before, during, and after the Civil War. Alongside the images, Jones offers viewers his knowledge of the city and its inhabitants.
To celebrate this release, the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon will be hosting a book signing and lecture on August 15th at 6 pm. In this program, the authors will explain their methodology in how the photographs were colorized, as well as the history behind them. Books will be available for purchase directly from the authors, who will also be available to autograph copies of their work.
This event is free and open to the public.
