Charleston County Public Works will be conducting nighttime paving operations on Mary Murray Drive on Sunday, July 30th from 9 pm to 5 am. Mary Murray is the road that wraps around Hampton Park in downtown Charleston. It will be closed to pedestrians and drivers during that time.
Workers will put a clear coat on the road followed by light sand. This helps extend the life of the road by protecting it from water and sun. Crews will sweep up the sand by the end of the day Tuesday, August 1st. It will be open prior to sweeping, so residents who choose to walk on Mary Murray before it is swept can expect to get sand on their shoes.
