Go Paperless: Get Your Charleston County Property Tax Bill Electronically

Published

on

The Charleston County Auditor’s Office is encouraging residents to sign up to get tax bills sent electronically.

“There are several benefits to having your property tax bill sent electronically versus the traditional mail,” said Charleston County Auditor Peter Tecklenburg. “We often find that people simply lose track of when to pay their property taxes which will likely result in penalties if it is past the due date. With electronic tax bills, the Auditor’s Office will be able to identify residents who haven’t paid and can send email reminders. The electronic option also helps with people who have moved and not updated their addresses. Not only does this save the County money, but it’s also a convenience for our residents.”

Property tax bills are sent out in October and payments are due in January. Electronic billing will not impact payments made by those that escrow their taxes.

Residents can learn more and sign up online, email the Auditor’s Office at auditorebill@charlestoncounty.org, or call 843.958.4200.
