We Are Sharing Hope SC Hosts 2nd Annual Community Health Fair
We Are Sharing Hope SC (SHSC), the state’s nonprofit organ and tissue recovery program, invites locals to come out to the 2nd annual Community Health Fair on Saturday, August 19th, at the SHSC headquarters in Charleston. Drawing on this year’s theme, “Growing Together in Health and Wellness,” the event offers a wide range of health-related services and recognizes National Multicultural Donor Awareness Month, which is observed in August.
The Community Health Fair is free to attend and provides the community with preventive healthcare practices and access to physical and mental health resources. Local partners on-site will be offering health screenings, nutritional information, and an overview of services. There will be several kid-friendly games and activities, including face painting and relay races will be available to kids of all ages. There will also be a school supply giveaway and raffle to win a bicycle and helmet, amongst other giveaways.
“We are excited for our second annual Community Health Fair following a successful launch last year,” said Krystal Cau, Director of Communications at We Are Sharing Hope SC. “We are passionate and committed to educating our community on our donation mission and advocating for the overall health and well-being of the community. We hope providing access to these resources will make an impact and encourage people to be proactive in their mental and physical health.”
Today, more than 1,600 South Carolinians are waiting on the national transplant waiting list, and more than 67% of those individuals are of multicultural communities. Nationally, more than 103,000 people are waiting on a second chance through the gift of donation.
SHSC’s 2nd Annual Community Health Fair will take place on Saturday, August 19th, from 10 am to 2 pm at 2215 Henry Tecklenburg Drive. Registration is not required and all services are complimentary.
