City of Charleston, Bank On Charleston Coalition to Host Safe Banking Informational Workshop
The city of Charleston, in partnership with the Bank On Charleston Coalition, will host a safe banking informational workshop from 6 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, August 30th, at the Arthur W. Christopher Community Center, located at 265 Fishburne Street.
During the workshop, representatives from the city and local Coalition members will discuss how to access safe and affordable banking, manage a checking account, build credit, and more.
Attendees 18 years and older will also have the opportunity to open Bank On certified accounts with the help of Coalition representatives. These accounts are nationally certified by the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund as safe, affordable accounts with low or no monthly fees, low or no insufficient funds fees, and mobile and online banking options.
In order to open an account, attendees should plan to bring a valid, government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license, state ID, or passport.
Those who choose to open a Bank On certified account on-site will be eligible to receive a $100 cash match following 60 days of account activity.
Registration is required, as space is limited. Those interested in attending can reserve their space at: https://forms.gle/6f8mSWvG4cd5Py2e7.
