Website: South Carolina is “Statistically the 10th Most Dangerous State to Live In”
High Rise Financial, a legal funding company, released a report on the most dangerous states to live in and they ranked South Carolina as being the 10th most dangerous in the country.
To rank the states, the company analyzed the latest data available from the National Center for Health Statistics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which recorded the number of preventable deaths in each state per year, to see which states had the highest rates of preventable deaths between 2010 and 2020.
It found that West Virginia is the most dangerous state to live in, with an average of 107.94 preventable deaths each year that is included in the study. The findings showed the most dangerous year to be 2020, with 125.6 preventable deaths per 100,000 people, and the ‘safest’ year to be 2010, with 66.59 per 100,000 people.
South Carolina came in tenth on the list, with on average 70.43 preventable deaths per 100,000 people each year between 2010 and 2020. Preventable deaths were highest in 2020, with 80.2 per 100,000 people, and lowest in 2013 with 47.99 per 100,000 people.
