Charleston County Announces Early Voting Info for Special Primary Election
Early voting for the Special Primary Election for Senate District 42 begins on Monday, August 21st, 2023. All eligible registered voters in Charleston County can vote early at the Board of Voter Registration and Elections Headquarters located at 4340 Corporate Road in North Charleston. Earlier this month, staff relocated to a new and improved building.
Registered voters no longer need an excuse to vote early. Early voting will take place until Friday, September 1st, 2023, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm. The Primary Election is Tuesday, September 5th.
Voters will need one form of photo identification to cast a ballot. Accepted forms include:
- SC Driver’s License
- SC Department of Motor Vehicles ID Card
- SC Voter Registration Card with Photo
- Federal Military ID
- US Passport
The Special Primary Election is necessary due to former Senator Marlon Kimpson’s resignation after being appointed to President Biden’s Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations.
