Website Claims South Carolina is the State Filing the 7th Most Court Cases Per Person
Tribeca Lawsuit Loans, a legal funding website, released a list of the states filing the most court cases and they ranked South Carolina as the state filing the 7th most court cases per person in the country.
To rank the states, the company studied U.S. District Court data to see which states had the most court cases filed per 100,000 people, based on data from March 2022 and March 2023.
It found that Florida is statistically filing the most court cases, with 276 cases filed per 100,000 people. In the 12 months leading up to March 2023, 59,428 court cases were filed in the state for a population of 21,538,187 people.
South Carolina takes seventh, with 4,931 cases filed in the time studied for a population of 5,118,425 people, which is equivalent to 96 cases filed per 100,000 people.
