Holy City Vintage Market Announces First Market of the Season
Holy City Vintage Market (HCVM), Charleston’s oldest such event, returns on Sunday, September 17th from 11 am to 4 pm at The Royal American (970 Morrison Dr.). This will be the first HCVM event that is not organized by founder Kelly Rae Smith, as she has turned the event over to co-organizer, Asiah Mae, the city’s current Poet Laureate and Co-founder of creative hub Ill Vibe The Tribe.
Around 30 vendors will take over the downtown bar’s parking lot to sell their vintage wares. Market-goers can anticipate vintage and secondhand shops like The Curated South, Gaia’s Hearth, FK Vintage, The Fruit Library, Major Vintage, Lacrima Mortis Vintage, and more. Bedizen by KYLA will also be on hand serving up tooth gems. In addition, the venue will be serving lunch and rum punch, while DJ Illadell will perform on the patio.
Shoppers are encouraged to bring their own tote bag for all their market goodies. Families and dogs are welcome.
“This is the 7th year of the market, and with all I have on my plate I knew I would need a team to really help me keep the market up to the HCVM standard, while also moving us forward as the market community grows in Charleston,” Mae said. “I’m super excited to be ushering into this new era with these amazing people.”
Team members include Ill Vibe co-founder and Balloon Bash owner Sabrina Hyman, makeup artist Que Conyers, sonic and visual collagist CONCEPT RXCH, and vintage slinger Madeline Good of Gaia’s Hearth.
