Deon Tedder Calls On County Boards Of Elections To Extend Early Voting Period Due To Hurricane Idalia

Deon Tedder, candidate for State Senate District 42, called on the Charleston and Dorchester County Boards of Elections to extend the early voting period due to Hurricane Idalia impacting the Charleston area.

“Hurricane Idalia is expected to bring heavy rain and wind to Charleston, SC, and that could make it difficult for some people to vote during the early voting period,” said Tedder. “I strongly urge the Charleston and Dorchester County Boards of Elections to extend the early voting period so that everyone has a chance to cast their ballot.”

The Charleston County Board of Elections has postponed early voting starting today at 12 pm and voting will resume on Friday, September 1st at 8:30 am. Early voting in Dorchester County will stop at 1 pm today and resume on Friday, September 1st at 8:30 am.

“I understand that the Boards of Elections have to make difficult decisions, but I believe that extending the early voting period is the right thing to do,” said Tedder. “This is a critical election, and we need to make sure that everyone has a chance to vote.”

The early voting period for the September 5th Democratic Primary for State Senate District 42 is currently scheduled to run from August 21st to September 1st. Tedder is calling on the Charleston and Dorchester County Boards of Elections to extend the early voting period by at least one day.

“I urge the Boards of Elections to do the right thing and extend the early voting period,” said Tedder. “This is a matter of democracy, and we need to make sure that everyone’s voice is heard.”
