Dorchester School District Two Outperforms State Averages on 2022-2023 SC READY Assessments

Dorchester School District Two’s high-quality education earned high marks on the SC READY Assessment for the 2022-2023 school year. This assessment measures yearly academic achievement in English Language Arts, mathematics, and science in grades 3 through 8.
Preliminary analysis of the available data shows DD2 continues to be an educational leader as elementary school and middle school students in nearly all grades outperformed state averages.
English Language Arts
- DD2’s percentage of students achieving Meets Expectations or Exceeds Expectations outperformed the state average for all grades (3-8), with every grade level demonstrating improvement over last year.
- All six grade levels performed significantly above pre-COVID-19 levels.
- Five of the six grade levels saw the highest percentages of students achieving Meets Expectations or Exceeds Expectations since SC READY’s inception in 2015-2016.
Math
- DD2’s percentage of students achieving Meets Expectations of Exceeds Expectations outperformed the state average for five of the six grades.
- Four of the six grade levels demonstrated improvement in the percentage of students achieving Meets Expectations or Exceeds Expectations.
- DD2 is closing the COVID-19 performance gap in four of the six grades, reflecting national trends.
Science
- DD2 students outperformed the state average for the two grades assessed (4 and 6).
- There was a slight performance increase for 4th grade and a slight decrease for 6th grade.
