Deon Tedder Responds to Gadsden Green Public Housing Conditions

Deon Tedder, a candidate for Senate District 42 in Charleston, today responded to a recent article about the poor living conditions at Gadsden Green Homes, a Charleston Housing Authority property.

“I am deeply concerned about the reports of unsafe and unacceptable living conditions at Gadsden Green Homes,” Tedder said. “No one deserves to live in such conditions, especially our children. Last week I reached out to the Charleston Housing Authority to work on finding a solution to these issues so they can be addressed quickly.”

Tedder says he spoke directly with Housing Authority Director, Arthur Milligan, about his concerns and confirmed that a plan of action is now in place. According to Tedder, the housing authority plans to visit each unit starting this week to address all issues. Tedder says he will continue to work with Director Milligan and the Housing Authority to ensure they have the resources they need for all residents to have safe housing.

“I am grateful that the Charleston Housing Authority is taking these issues seriously and is quickly taking action to address them,” Tedder said. “Regardless of your zip code or income level, everyone deserves the right to quality housing. I will continue to check in with Director Milligan to ensure that the necessary repairs are being done and that Gadsden Green residents have a safe and healthy place to live.”
