Folly Beach to Celebrate 50th Anniversary From September 22nd to October 1st
Get ready to revel in nostalgia as Folly Beach gears up to commemorate its golden milestone, the 50th Anniversary of becoming a city. From September 22nd to October 1st, Folly invites everyone to join in the celebration.
The event calendar showcases Folly over the years and the city’s vibrant history. There will be street festivals, dancing on the pier, a classic car show, a 20’s themed gala, classic carnival games, rides, and more.
Here’s a look at the schedule:
- Friday, September 22nd – Folly’s 50th Gala
- 1920s-themed black-tie gala, complete with a seated dinner, specialty cocktails, a photo booth, and swingin’ live music.
- Saturday, September 23rd – Folly Through the Decades
- A classic car show will line the streets of Folly as the businesses on each block will represent the food, music, and culture of their designated decade.
- Sunday, September 24th – Beach Day Games
- A day full of team and individual games on the beach.
- Wednesday, September 27th – Kids Day Event
- A celebration specific for the kiddos featuring arts, crafts, games, and lots of Folly fun
- Thursday, September 28th – Shagging & Disco on the Pier
- The evening will start the way many evenings started on the pier back in the day … with some serious shagging. Then, bust out the bellbottoms and get ready to spend the rest of the night reliving the incredible age of disco
- Saturday, September 30th – Folly’s 50th Street Party
- The street will be closed to traffic as people gather to celebrate 50 Years of Folly with food, art, and craft vendors, live music on three stages, contests, a huge kids’ area, and lots more
- Friday, September 29th through Sunday, October 1st – Classic Carnival Rides
- Includes: Ferris Wheel looking out over the ocean, carousel and more
