Dorchester School District Two Announces Meatball Run and Summerville Italian Feast
Rolling into Summerville on October 7th and 8th is the first ever Meatball Run and the 11th annual Summerville Italian Feast. The events will benefit the Dorchester Two Educational Foundation on behalf of Dorchester School District Two (DD2).
The Meatball Run on October 7th includes the Family Fun Run at 8 am and 5K Run at 8:30 am. The race starts at St. Paul’s Anglican Church (316 W. Carolina Avenue). The flat road course will take participants through the historic district of Summerville and return to the church. The USATF-certified run/walk will award the top three male/female finishers in each age category and a team award for highest participation. 5K and Fun Run participants will receive a medal. To ensure you receive a race T-shirt, you must register by September 17th. However, registrations will be accepted through the day of the event.
The Summerville Italian Feast returns on October 8th from 11 am to 6 pm. Authentic Italian cuisine and Lowcountry dishes will be available in Hutchinson Square. DD2 fine arts students will showcase their talent during performances throughout the day.
Over the years, the Summerville Italian Feast has donated more than $76,000 total to the Dorchester Two Educational Foundation. The Foundation’s support is vital to empowering DD2 teachers and fueling innovation in classrooms, especially since DD2 is one of the lowest-funded school districts in South Carolina.
“The Dorchester Two Educational Foundation is honored to have the longtime support of the Summerville Italian Feast,” said Foundation Executive Director Ralph Hayes. “With the addition of the Meatball Run, it’s inspiring to see our community’s enthusiasm for gathering to enjoy our beautiful downtown area while supporting our mission of making a direct impact on DD2 students and teachers.”
