Press Release

The public is invited to Mary Martin Gallery on October 6th for the opening reception of “Autumn’s Spell” by Julia Klimova which will be held at 5 pm to 8 pm at 143 East Bay Street. The artist will be at the opening reception to meet the public.

“Autumn teaches us the beauty of letting go. Growth requires release, it’s what the trees do. It is a perfect time to contemplate your current state in life, realize the beauty of fast changing things, appreciate small moments and accept the inevitable,” states Klimova.

“Autumn’s Spell” reminds us of that; the show contains paintings of a variety of subject matters: figurative, landscapes, and florals. The warm fall color palette and mix of sentiments, such as fading flowers and crisp blue air, create that magical autumn spell. Klimova is known for her unique artistic style of combining different compositions, colors and textures in oil on canvas.

“My art is about sensing rather than just seeing … in the same way that music is felt and not simply heard,” Klimova said.

“Muse of Tomorrow” a 60” X 48” oil on canvas well represents not only the theme of “Autumn’s Spell,” but also Klimova’s captivating portraitures. Klimova’s unique portrait compositions are not about communicating a specific narrative, message or symbolism, rather the identity, both internal and external of the individual. One cannot mention Klimova’s portraits without mentioning the very mesmerizing eyes looking back out from the canvas.

Klimova grew up in Eastern Europe in a southern sun-blessed region, which has influenced her perception and sense of color. Klimova’s source of creativity has been largely formed by the accumulation of childhood images celebrating the beauty of nature and life. After a traditional art education, Klimova moved to North America and became a full time artist. Today her paintings can be found in private art collections and commercial art settings.

Klimova is represented by Mary Martin, Mary Martin Galleries in Charleston.
