Taste of the Islands Caribbean Restaurant Announces Opening at New Location
Taste of the Islands, a Caribbean restaurant, will be celebrating its grand opening at their new location at 630-A Skylark Drive in the Quadrangle Shopping Center (next to Piggly Wiggly) on Saturday, October 7th.
The celebration will include live radio broadcasts starting at 11 am, all-day specials, a ribbon cutting by Mayor John Tecklenburg at 1 pm, live reggae by the Equal Rights, and their inaugural reggae block party at 6 pm featuring Ricky Lee.
For more than seven years, Taste of the Islands has served the West Ashley community and is now opening an 80-seat restaurant that features both indoor and patio dining.
“We ran a very successful and profitable restaurant in the West Ashley area for the past 7 years,” said Sonia Deidrick. “Our customer base outgrew the previous space, so we moved to grow and expand our concept into a more modern, relaxed, and comfortable space while still maintaining our authentic Caribbean feel.”
They have also expanded their menu to feature dishes from around the Caribbean to accompany their signature Beef Oxtail, Jerk Chicken, and Curried Chicken. In addition, they now offer a full bar service featuring beer, wine, and cocktails. The restaurant also serves one-of-a-kind frozen cocktails, including their popular “Bob Marley” (right).
The restaurant will offer live Reggae music on their patio every Thursday night beginning at 5:30 pm and Ladies Night on Wednesdays, which features discounted wine specials and their daily Happy Hour offerings.
