Press Release

Postpartum Support Charleston, a leading organization dedicated to supporting mothers and families during the postpartum period, is proud to announce the launch of its “I Signed” campaign. This empowering initiative aims to raise awareness about maternal mental health challenges, break the stigma surrounding postpartum mental illnesses, and encourage individuals to show their support for mothers experiencing these conditions.

Maternal mental illnesses such as postpartum depression and anxiety impact a significant number of mothers, with many suffering in silence due to societal stigmas and misconceptions. Recent studies have shed light on the extent of this problem, revealing that maternal mental illnesses affect up to 20% of all pregnancies. Alarmingly, suicide and overdose have emerged as the leading causes of death in the first year postpartum. Given the severity of these statistics, it is imperative that we prioritize addressing this issue and establish a supportive community for mothers grappling with these challenges.

The “I Signed” campaign is a call to action, inviting community members, healthcare professionals, and individuals in the Charleston community to come together and show their support for mothers facing mental health challenges. By signing the campaign’s pledge, participants commit to raising awareness, sharing stories, and advocating for better mental health resources for new mothers. Postpartum Support Charleston invites everyone to join the “I Signed” campaign and be a part of this transformative movement. Here’s how you can show your support:
