Vice President Kamala Harris to Speak at CofC on Wednesday
On Wednesday, October 11th, Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to the Holy City as she continues her “Fight for Our Freedoms” College Tour with a moderated conversation at the College of Charleston. This campus event will be the seventh stop on the Vice President’s nationwide college tour. The engagement is only open to CofC students.
The Vice President ‘s Office says the “Fight for Our Freedoms” College Tour is “a high-energy national swing that is mobilizing thousands of young people in the ongoing fight for fundamental freedoms and rights.” The Vice President has been visiting around a dozen campuses including HBCUs, Hispanic-Serving Institutions, community colleges, apprenticeship programs, and additional state schools. At each stop, Vice President Harris is focusing on issues that disproportionately impact young people across America – from reproductive freedom and gun safety to climate action, voting rights, LGBTQ+ equality, mental health, and book bans.
“The College of Charleston is honored to host Vice President Harris on campus,” said CofC President Andrew T. Hsu. “Vice President Harris’ visit to our university is a wonderful opportunity for our students to hear and see a world leader up close, and provides them a chance to share their thoughts on policies important to them. We thank the White House for selecting the College of Charleston as part of its engagement initiative.”
