Website: South Carolina No. 11 Worst State for Tech Companies
Technology website Appy Pie today released a study on the Best States for Tech Companies and they ranked South Carolina as being the 11th worst in the country.
To come up with their rankings, the company used the most recent data from the Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office across six metrics in all 50 states and D.C.
Key Findings:
- No. 41 South Carolina: Ranks No. 33 for patents (26.9 per capita), No. 33 for startup survival (50%), No. 35 for tech workers (3.5% of workforce), No. 38 for tech firms (3.5% of all companies), No. 41 for VC growth (166%), and No. 46 for public funding ($54 per capita) over the last five years.
- 10 Best States for Tech Companies: Massachusetts, California, Maryland, Virginia, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Utah.
