Technology website Appy Pie today released a study on the Best and Worst States for Tech Startups Amind the AI Explosion and they ranked South Carolina as being the 11th worst in the country.

Generative AI platforms, such as ChatGPT and Bard, are democratizing technology and giving tech companies outside of Silicon Valley the chance to innovate like never before. Startups across the nation are leveraging AI to reduce labor costs, automate, and develop software for pennies on the dollar. Amid this paradigm shift, some states are emerging as new hot spots for tech startups

South Carolina’s Ranking in the Six Categories Analyzed:

1. Patents: No. 33 – 26.9 per capita
2. Startup Survival: No. 33 – 50%
3. Tech Workers: No. 35 – 3.5% of workforce
4. Tech Firms: No. 38 – 3.5% of all companies
5. VC Growth Last Five Years: No. 41 – 166% increase
6. Public Funding: No. 46 – $46 per capita

The 10 best states for tech startups are Massachusetts, California, Maryland, Virginia, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Utah.
