The South Carolina Education Association’s Center for Educator Wellness & Learning (CEWL) will host the 2023 Induction Teacher Symposium on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Heyward Career & Technology Center in Richland County School District One.

Organized by CEWL Teaching and Learning Specialist Dr. Marcella Wine-Snyder, the Symposium is tailor-made for educators who are in the first five years of their careers. The event is designed to foster connections among beginning teachers and provide them with the tools, inspiration, and support they need to succeed. Nationally acclaimed speaker and author Jed Dearybury will be the keynote speaker.

The Symposium is an integral part of CEWL’s Induction Institute, a comprehensive initiative aimed at providing essential support for early career educators, improving the quality of teaching in South Carolina, enhancing student achievement, and reducing the attrition rate among new teachers. “We often lose many educators within the first five years of their careers. However, we firmly believe we can mitigate this loss by connecting them with the support structures they need to feel a sense of efficacy and autonomy in the classroom. This Symposium, combined with one-on-one CEWL Coaching and other professional learning opportunities, can help these early career educators grow and succeed,” said Dr. Wine-Snyder.

Education leaders from across South Carolina will be in attendance to provide relevant and engaging learning for participants with diverse, concurrent sessions specifically designed for early career educators. Attendees will have the opportunity to be involved in a panel discussion, have professional headshots taken, and shop for free classroom materials, supplies, and books for their classroom. Lunch will also be provided!
