Charleston native Emma Navarro is one of the favorites for the upcoming ITF W100 in her hometown.

The Charleston ITF W100 Tournament will be Nov. 6-12 at LTP Mount Pleasant. The tournament will feature 56 singles players and 16 doubles teams from around the world. The event is free and open to the public.

This is the final of three major women’s events that conclude the 2023 USTA Pro Circuit season. Charleston has long been a host of prominent women’s tennis events, including an annual WTA 500 Credit One Charleston Open as well as another W100 event held earlier this year. The W100 event in April was won by Charleston native Emma Navarro.

Navarro’s road to success has been both rapid and remarkable. In her first year as a professional, she’s already risen to No. 42 in the world and has an impressive 52-23 record in professional matches this year.

“Emma is poised to become one of the sport’s prominent figures for the next decade,” said Tournament Director Patrick Hieber. “It’s been incredible to watch her grow, and we look forward to seeing her compete here.”

Navarro is joined in the field by a number of talented Americans including fellow WTA Top 100 player Alycia Parks, Hailey Baptiste, Sachia Vickery and Ann Li. Also in the field are former college tennis standouts McCartney Kessler and Makenna Jones.

“This tournament offers a unique opportunity for local tennis fans to witness extraordinary talent of up-and-coming WTA stars,” Hieber said.

Six of the tournament’s competitors are part of the local LTP Pro Player Development program, which include tennis coaching, physical therapy, mental health coaching and fitness training. These athletes spend significant time in the Lowcountry training when they’re not competing. Those players include No. 42 Emma Navarro, No. 156 Ann Li, No. 237 Maria Mateas, No. 450 Chloe Beck, No. 647 Ellie Douglas and former student and now LTP Coach Chelsea Sawyer.

“Li is another player to watch,” Hieber said. “She was at a career low of 44 last year and has been making her way back after an injury. She’s a former girls’ singles finals runner up from Wimbledon and had back-to-back impressive wins at the Western & Southern Open beating Davis, Cornet and Linette before losing in a close third set to No. 1 Sabalenka.”

In addition to this tournament, LTP hosts other events, such as the USTA Girls 18s National Clay Court Championships, a Men’s ATP Challenger 75 various UTR $25K PTT Events, USTA junior events and other prize money tournaments.
