SC Works Trident Announces November Hiring Events

SC Works Trident (SCW) today announced three hiring events scheduled to take place throughout November, each designed to connect job seekers and employers throughout the Tri-County region.

The scheduled events are:

• Charleston Water System Career Fair, Thursday, Nov. 9
• Veterans Job Fair, Thursday, Nov. 16
• Volvo Application Event, Tuesday, Nov. 14

Each event is open to the public. Pre-registration is not required.

The SC Works Trident Career Express, a mobile extension of the statewide SC Works centers, will be on-site at each of these events to assist job seekers with resume updates and other job application needs.

Those interested in attending these events are encouraged to bring an updated resume. Jobseekers in need of preparation assistance prior to the event are invited to visit their local SC Works Trident center.

Charleston Water System Career Fair
November 9, 2023 | 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Representatives from Charleston Water System will be on-site recruiting for multiple positions that offer competitive salaries ranging from $34,000 to $118,000. Recruiters will be available to discuss employee benefits and incentive programs, including tuition reimbursement and professional development opportunities.
 
Job seekers are encouraged to dress for success, bring a resume, and be prepared to complete an online application. 

Veterans Job Fair
November 16, 2023 | 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. (Open to the public from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.)

SC Works Trident is partnering with Operation Palmetto Employment, the City of Charleston, S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce, and Charleston Promise Neighborhood to host a job fair aimed at connecting veterans in the Tri-County region to important job opportunities and resources. A variety of employers will be present to share information about current job opportunities. The event is a platform for veterans to connect with employers and receive information on Veterans Services resources. The event is exclusive to veterans and their families from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and open to all job seekers from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Volvo Application Events (open to all members of the public, occur weekly)

SC Works Trident is launching a new weekly application event series with Volvo. The events will rotate between Berkeley and Dorchester counties each month and will run through the end of January 2024. The events are for those interested in becoming a new Volvo team member and working at the company’s Ridgeville plant. Those interested in attending must:

• Be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or GED
• Successfully complete a background check, drug screen, and physical
• Complete one day of unpaid pre-hire training
• Be willing to work any shift

• Tuesday, Nov. 21|10 a,m. – 1 p.m. | Dorchester County – Summerville Library
• Tuesday, Nov. 28 | 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. | Berkeley County – Moncks Corner Library
• Thursday, Nov. 30 | 2 – 6 p.m. |Trident Technical College – Dorchester County Quick Jobs Training Center
