2020 South Carolina General Election Information
Elections are always important, but in light of several events and reports from the last year, more people than normal are showing interest in this year’s local (and national) races. Finding information can be daunting and turns many people off to the voting process, so Holy City Sinner has created this resource, which will hopefully provide some assistance.
South Carolina, along with the rest of the nation, will be voting in the General Election on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3rd. Here’s everything you need to know:
Am I Registered to Vote?
You can check if you are registered here. If you are, you can vote!

Can I vote early in-person?
Yes! South Carolina voters can vote before Election Day through a process called absentee in-person voting. You can vote early in person from October 5th through November 2nd (with vary dates and hours based on your county). You will be asked to show a photo ID to vote.

I’m registered to vote, but I’m worried about voting in-person due to the coronavirus, can I vote absentee?
Yes! South Carolina offers absentee ballots by mail to voters who will be unable to vote in person. To vote absentee, you have to print out an application (found here) and get it to your county voter registration office by their deadline.
There are several reasons you can choose for why you are voting absentee by mail, but if you are requesting to do so because of fears over the coronavirus, you should choose “18 State of Emergency (General Only).”
Important note – South Carolina voters must have a witness signature on their absentee ballots. The SEC will continue to the notify the public of any changes to the witness requirement through the media and at scvotes.gov. Get all the details on absentee voting here.
I’m going to vote in person on Election Day, where is my polling place?
You can find that here! Be sure to bring your Photo ID. Polls are open on November 3rd from 7 am to 7 pm.
