August’s Virtual Holy City Vintage Market will Benefit Fresh Future Farm
Holy City Vintage Market’s (HCVM) upcoming virtual market on Sunday, August 2 (12 pm to 3 pm on Instagram) will also serve as a fundraiser for Fresh Future Farm (FFF), a Black-led North Charleston urban farm prioritizing food justice and improving the quality of life for their neighbors in the Chicora/Cherokee area.
Last month, the virtual market raised $255 for the Carolina Youth Action Project through a raffle and will use the same means to support FFF.
Here’s how the raffle works:
From now until midnight on market day, followers can donate $5 to enter a raffle to win one big prize bundle from local vendors. Each $5 donation = an entry; Becoming a sustaining donor for FFF = 10 entries. Donate directly on freshfuturefarm.org or become a sustaining donor via patreon.com/freshfuturefarm.
The prize? A grand bundle of stuff donated by regular market vendors HCVM followers know and love. The prize bundle includes a $50 voucher from Closet Case Thrift as well as items from The Fern, The Snail, and The Wren, Runaround Sue Vintage, Peachy Keen Creations, Sage Flower Essentials, Homesick Housewares, Malted Mutts, and Camela Guevara.
A winner will be chosen at random and announced on HCVM’s Instagram live with FFF Community Engagement Manager, Kenya Cummings, at 3 pm on August 3rd. Cummings will also brief viewers on how they can get further involved with the farm’s mission of ending food apartheid in the community.
The virtual market will feature over 20 vendors selling vintage galore and more via the @holycityvintagemarket Instagram story. Interested buyers can DM individual shops and set up purchase and contact-free delivery details. No purchase necessary – window shopping, afternoon hangs, and fun in general are encouraged.
For vendor announcements stay tuned to HCVM’s Instagram, @holycityvintagemarket, and be sure to RSVP to the event via Facebook.
