SC State Fair Pivoting to Drive-thru Event for 2020
The South Carolina State Fair, like everything else, is going to look quite different this year. This fall’s event, being held on October 20th and 21st, will be free to attend and completely drive-thru. Attendees will get a snippet of the fair’s exhibits, food, crafts, and animals – all from the safety of their cars. Besides the drive to Columbia, guests won’t be able to enjoy any rides this year.
“In the midst of the worst global crisis of our lifetime, we wanted to give the community something positive to look forward to,” general manager Nancy Smith said. “Our team is proud to offer a free event where families and friends can experience the joy of the State Fair in a safe and fun environment.”
The fair promises “unique, car-friendly attractions that highlight South Carolina’s agriculture, history, arts and culture — all from the comfort and safety of their cars.” They will also offer their version of the restaurant drive-through concept as guests will be able to drive into the Lexington Medical Center Fair Park on the fairgrounds and purchase their favorite fair foods.
