Brookgreen Gardens Names New Director of Philanthropy
Hatton Gravely has been named director of philanthropy for Brookgreen Gardens.
Since 2016, Gravely served as the director of Women in Philanthropy and Leadership (WIPL) for Coastal Carolina University. WIPL is a membership organization which raises money for scholarships and hosts community events throughout the year to empower women. In this role, she oversaw the organization’s daily operations, membership communications, planned community events throughout the year, and coordinated the annual Women’s Leadership Conference and Celebration of Inspiring Women.
Prior to serving as the WIPL director, she was the vice president of development and marketing at SPM Resorts Inc. in Myrtle Beach and as the marketing manager at The Market Common. Her background also includes serving as events and promotions manager at The Brandon Agency, senior project coordinator for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, and staff assistant and systems administrator for Rep. Shelley Moore Capito in Washington, D.C.
She and her husband, Will, have two children, Thomas and Mary Chase. Gravely said, “Having been a member of Brookgreen for several years, I have many special family memories at the Gardens. I am excited to be a part of helping Brookgreen grow for more families to create their own memories.”
At Brookgreen, Hatton will be leading the Development Department to generate donor support and cultivate membership and corporate partnerships. “Brookgreen Gardens is a truly special place, and philanthropy is the backbone supporting our missions,” said Page Kiniry, President and CEO. “We are excited to welcome Hatton to the Brookgreen family. Her education, enthusiasm and experience make her uniquely suited for this position as we work towards the Gardens’ future.”
