RiverDogs Unveil Adult Cooking and Youth Baseball Classes

In a year with no baseball, the RiverDogs are excited to introduce several new events at the ballpark starting in September. The ballclub will launch exclusive adult cooking and dining experiences in the Segra Club at Riley Park, led by chef Josh Shea, and continue on-field youth baseball instruction with weekend clinics led by Chris Singleton.
In the adult culinary experience, Shea will lead a small group of 15 through the techniques to create a four-course meal, highlighted by smoked brisket and shrimp over stone-ground grits. Guests will cook in the high-end Segra Club at Riley Park kitchen, and then enjoy a four-course meal to follow in the Segra Club’s dining room. Cooking experiences also include beer and wine over the course of the three-hour event. Those events are being offered in the evenings of Thursday, September 10 and Saturday, September 12, and are $150 per guest, and guests must be 21 or older. COVID-19 precautions are in place, including on-site temperature checks, sanitizing stations, and social distancing.
“These cooking classes will allow our guests to experience The Joe like they’ve never seen it. These guests will have the state-of-the-art Segra Club to themselves and have a night out they won’t forget,” Shea said.
For kids 6-13, getting to improve their baseball skills on the green grass of The Joe at the instruction of former pro baseball player and RiverDogs director of community outreach Chris Singleton is a can’t-miss experience. After hosting weeklong camps throughout the summer, Singleton will now offer weekend clinics over the course of two weekends in September. The clinics are from 8:30am to 12:30pm, and campers can attend both Saturday and Sunday for $125 or pick one day for $70. The clinics will operate with the same COVID-19 precautions as the team’s summer camps and will be restricted in capacity.
RiverDogs baseball camps and clinics are sponsored by Fins Car Wash, which has open locations in Mt. Pleasant, West Ashley and North Charleston.
“We’re continue to look for ways to connect with the community in this strange year,” said RiverDogs president Dave Echols. “Our goal is always to create unforgettable experiences, and we think these new events will be a great opportunity for the community to interact with us in all-new ways.”
