CCPL Launches Dial-a-Story Program for All Ages
The Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) is bringing story-time home to families and children: you can now listen to stories by dialing into their new Dial-A-Story line! All you need is access to a phone and you can listen to stories read aloud by CCPL staff.
Each week, staff will record a reading of a short story, poem, or excerpt of a favorite book. Patrons can use the call-in service to listen to the stories anytime, anywhere, on demand. New stories will be posted every Monday in five different categories: Birth-Kindergarten, Birth-Kindergarten in Spanish, 1st-5th grade, Young Adult, and Adult.
“Listening to a story helps to engage everyone in literacy,” Outreach Manager Kathleen Montgomery said. “Even if it’s passive listening, it engages your brain and has great benefits in your reading and your vocabulary.”
To access Dial-A-Story, call 843-805-6806. Follow the prompts to choose the story you would like to hear.
