College of Charleston Commencement Set for Saturday
The College of Charleston will hold four commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2020 on Saturday, October 10th in the Cistern Yard.
A total of 1,056 members of the Class of 2020 are expected to participate in person in the commencement ceremonies, which were delayed in May due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The four separate ceremonies will take place at the following times:
- 9 am – School of Business
- 12 pm – The Graduate School; School of Education, Health, and Human Performance; School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs
- 3 pm – School of the Arts; School of Professional Studies; School of Science and Mathematics
- 6 pm – School of Humanities and Social Sciences
Commencement speaker will be Nationally syndicated columnist and recipient of the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Distinguished Commentary Kathleen Parker and historian and founding director of the Center for the Study of Slavery in Charleston Bernard E. Powers will be the featured speakers during the 2020 College of Charleston Spring Commencement ceremonies.
Parker will address graduates from the School of Business at 9 am and the School of Education, Health and Human Performance, The Graduate School of the University of Charleston and School of Languages, Cultures and World Affairs at 12 pm.
Powers will give the commencement address to the graduates of the School of the Arts, School of Professional Studies and School of Sciences and Mathematics at 3 pm and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at 6 pm.
Due to South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control regulations limiting group gatherings over 250, we will not be allowed to have an in-person audience. No guests of any type including family members, friends or faculty can be present. The ceremonies will be attended by graduates only and will be live streamed on the College’s Facebook page and at cofc.edu.
