Crews Chevrolet Holding Fund & Food Drive for the Lowcountry Food Bank
The Lowcountry Food Bank (LCFB) announced today that Crews Chevrolet will hold a “Pounds and Dollars” Food Drive, collecting food items and monetary donations for the LCFB now through Saturday, October 31st at 8199 Rivers Avenue in North Charleston.
Crews Chevrolet and Collision will match food pounds collected – pound for pound. GM Financial will match monetary donations dollar for dollar up to $8,000.
The WEZL Kindness CREWS-AIDE with Ric Rush is supporting the food drive by kicking off the 2020 Holiday Kindness Crews-Aide with this effort.
On Saturday, October 31st, food trucks will be on hand at Crews Chevrolet from 11:30 am to 2 pm. Final totals will be announced at about 3 pm.
The overall food insecurity rate in the 10 coastal counties of South Carolina that the LCFB serves has increased by 58% since the COVID-19 pandemic began, which has increased the total number of neighbors in our state to 233,000 people who face hunger every day. The increase in food insecurity for children is even more devastating with a 76% increase, resulting in 75,000 children who do not have consistent access to the nutritious food they need to live healthy, active lives.
In addition to monetary donations, items that the LCFB needs are canned meat, low-sodium beans, fruit in 100% fruit juice, low-sodium vegetables, whole grains – such as brown rice, and baby formula. Click here to give to the Crews Chevrolet GM Financial “Pounds & Dollars” Food Drive.
