Dorchester County Encouraging Neighbors to Get Out and Explore with “Do More” Campaign
Autumn in the Lowcountry is the perfect time to get out and explore, and the continued challenge of COVID makes this the ultimate season for staycationing.
Many folks are looking for opportunities to enjoy being outdoors without driving many miles to their destination. Dorchester County is reminding neighbors and drive-distance residents that there are plenty of outdoor activities to choose from right in their backyards.
Starting this week, the County is incentivizing visitors with an easy social media campaign inspired by its Do More Dorchester website. Between now and December 31st, every time you do something fun and recreational in Dorchester County, post a photo to Instagram or Facebook and tag it with #DoMoreDorchester to earn some cool swag. You’ll be notified of your participation prize. The more you post, the sweeter the swag!
From camping and hiking to golfing and dining, Dorchester County offers a trove of recreational opportunities for all ages. Consider visiting these reasonably priced, outdoor facilities in Dorchester County – which are collected at www.DoMoreDorchester.com:
Beidler Forest – provides one of the nation’s richest bird watching environments. Situated along numerous migratory pathways, Beidler’s 16,000 acres of cypress/tupelo swamp and old growth forest provide sanctuary for scores of resident and visiting species.
Rosebrock Park – grab your hiking stick and hit the trail at this 70-acre park. Bring the kids along and watch them explore one of Dorchester’s newest public playgrounds.
Givhans Ferry State Park – walk the River Bluff Trail for a scenic view of the Edisto river or hike the Old Loop Trail and explore the various plants, landscapes and animal habitats. Easily access the Edisto River where you have the opportunity to kayak or canoe your way through miles of languid waters.
Five Golf Courses including Wescott Plantation – Located within minutes of the Charleston International Airport, Wescott is known as one of the area’s largest and most diverse daily-fee golf facilities. With three different 18-hole layouts for players to experience, this is the Lowcountry’s only 27-hole facility. The golf course is not only affordable, but it is also known to have resort class service, premier course conditions, and award-winning staff.
