Multiple Charleston Breweries Earn Medals at 2020 U.S. Open Beer Championships
Three local breweries took home some hardware last week at the 2020 U.S. Open Beer Championships. Breweries from all over the world sent in more than 6,000 beers representing over 140 different styles to the competition.
The local winners were:
- Commonhouse Aleworks
- Gold Medal in the Session IPA category for Local Lo Cal
- Bronze in the West Coast IPA category for Looking East
- Holy City Brewing
- Gold medal in the German Hefeweizen category for Washout Wheat
- Revelry Brewing
- Silver medal in the German Wheat category for Hotel Rendezvous
The following South Carolina breweries also won awards:
- Columbia Craft Brewing
- Silver medal in the New Zealand IPA category for 41° 16′ S 173° 17′ E
- Liability Brewing
- Gold medal in the French / Belgian Ale for Feral Garden Gnome
- New Groove Artisan Brewery
- Silver medal in the Red/Port Wine Barrel Aged Beer category for It’s A Hard Knock Life
- Bronze medal in the Barrel Aged Pale Beer category for Sonata Con Legno
- River Rat Brewery
- Silver medal in the Barrel Aged Pale Beer category for Bent Barrel
- Bronze medal in the Heller Bock/Maibock category for Helles Bock
