Charleston Symphony Receives Large Donation from CSOL

The Charleston Symphony Orchestra League, Inc. (CSOL®) presented a donation of $75,000 to Charleston Symphony at last weekend’s Symphony Holiday Pops Concert. Yuriy Bekker, Principal Pops Conductor of the Charleston Symphony, received the check and thanked the CSOL, commenting that the donation is especially important during this year of reduced concert attendance due to the pandemic. 

The CSOL is the largest institutional donor to Charleston Symphony. Funding comes from member donations and a year-long series of events, designed to raise funds while informing the public about the orchestra and supporting education in the Lowcountry. Recent events included a golf tournament at Charleston Country Club and the annual Tour of Homes on Kiawah Island.  Lyn Magee, President of the CSOL commented, “This year has been a difficult one for us as it has for everyone. Due to the pandemic we were forced to cancel our main annual fundraiser, the 2020 Designer Showhouse last spring. The events we did manage to hold were subject to COVID-based restrictions on attendance and social distancing. Thanks to the creativity and determination of our members, we have nonetheless been able to continue our support of this fabulous symphony orchestra, as well as maintain our program of music scholarships, albeit on a reduced scale.”

The CSOL currently is offering two opportunities for public support – a sponsorship raffle for a 2021 BMW X3, and a Valentine’s Day raffle for a series of elegant prizes.
