On Tuesday, Charleston County’s Public Safety Directorate and Fetter Health Care Network announced plans to administer COVID-19 vaccines to eligible citizens in rural communities throughout Charleston County. The first vaccine clinic location will be held at the St. Paul’s/Hollywood Library from 9 am to 2 pm on Tuesday, February 16th. The St. Paul’s/Hollywood library and book drops will be closed to the general public on the dates of the vaccination clinics. 

Vaccine clinics are on a first come, first serve basis. Citizens can fill out paperwork in advance at the St. Paul’s/Hollywood Library. This will expedite the vaccine process, but does NOT guarantee a vaccine. The Department of Health and Environmental Control is currently in Phase 1a.

Citizens Eligible under Phase 1a:

• Age 65 or older
• Healthcare worker (required verification: employee badge, picture of professional license, personalized letter from employer)
• Parent of medically fragile child (required verification: signed attestation form from provider of child)
• Critical essential worker (defined by DHEC) guidelines: COVID-19 Vaccine | SCDHEC

To fill out paperwork prior to or the day of the event, please bring:

• Personal Photo Identification
• Employment Photo Identification, if applicable (employer badge, picture of professional license, personalized letter from employer)
• Insurance Card, if applicable, social security number if no insurance
• Provider Attestation Form, if applicable

Charleston County and Fetter Health Care Network are currently working to schedule vaccine clinics in other rural areas of the County. These dates and times are tentative due to vaccine availability.

“We are currently focusing efforts on Charleston County’s rural areas because we know it can be difficult for many people to travel to one of our hospitals to get vaccinated,” said Charleston County Council Chairman Teddie Pryor. “We want to encourage everyone living in the St. Paul’s area who is eligible and wants to get the vaccine to take advantage of this opportunity.”

“Our goal in offering these vaccination clinics is to make it more convenient to some of our most vulnerable citizens who do not live near hospitals or pharmacies offering the vaccine,” said Charleston County Council Vice Chairwoman Anna Johnson. “We ask that you be patient as we work with Fetter to offer more clinics in other rural areas as vaccines become available.”
